  • Johanna Biebesheimer Nichols*, 67BA, an American Association for the Advancement of Science fellow and recipient of the Order of Merit from the Ingushetia government (Russian federation) for her work on the Ingush language, has retired from the University of California at Berkeley as a Slavic languages and affiliate linguistics professor and currently directs research projects on the Chechen and Ingush languages.
