Deborah K. Yount Veale [L], 81BSPh, director of managed care for CVS Pharmacy, received a UI College of Pharmacy 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award, and Thomas J. Veale [L], 80BBA, chair of the UI College of Pharmacy executive leadership board and founder and president of the TRISTAR Insurance Group in Long Beach, CA, received a UI College of Pharmacy 2010 Honorary Alumni Award. Cynthia K. Christensen [OCC], 76BS, 80DDS, of Swisher, a retired UI clinical associate professor of pediatric dentistry, is the UI College of Dentistry's 2010 Educator of the Year.

Wayne A. Fisher [A], 71BA, of Milton, DE, recently retired after careers as a public health officer for the township of Teaneck, NJ, and as an adjunct environmental health professor for Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ.

Julianne Volkens Fitz [OCC], 71BA, 72MA, of Brentwood, TN, is coordinator for the groups "Fun and Fiber Arts" at Gilda's Club Nashville, a nonprofit cancer support resource, and "Stitching for Charity," which donates handmade lap throws to the Vanderbilt University Cancer Center in Nashville.

Daniel Holm, 76BBA, a former high school wrestling star at Libertyville High School in Libertyville, IL, and three-time all-American at the University of Iowa, has been inducted into the Lake County High School Sports Hall of Fame in Grayslake, IL.

Arthur A. Nelson, Jr., 73PhD, of Amarillo, TX, the founding dean of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy, has received a UI College of Pharmacy 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award.

Laura R. Paarmann [A], 75BM, 88MA, of Charles City, is a teacher for the Charles City Community Schools.

John M. Sleichter, 74BA, 75BS, 79DDS, 81MS, of Muscatine, an orthodontist, has received the UI College of Dentistry's 2010 Service Recognition Award.

Helen H. Spalding [L], 72BA, 74MA, of Lacey, WA, a founding member on the editorial board of portal: Libraries and the Academy, recently retired as a university librarian and professor emerita from Portland State University in Portland, OR.

Lynn D. Curry [L], 65DDS, of Carroll, a dentist who helped revitalize the UI College of Dentistry's preceptor program and is a steering committee member for the college's building renovation project, has received the college's 2010 Alumnus of the Year Award.

Edward C. Fitzpatrick, 68BA, of Chicago, a partner with the Baker & Daniels law firm, was named in the 2011 Illinois Super Lawyers magazine.

Andrew J. Hankins [L], 64BA, of Detroit, former basketball standout at Waukegan High School in Waukegan, IL, and at the UI, and now director of the Henry Ford Health System Northeast Radiology Facility, has been inducted into the Lake County High School Sports Hall of Fame in Grayslake, IL.

Larry L. Kauffman [OCC], 63BBA, of Hot Springs, AR, is president and financial planner for Kauffman Financial Services.

Carolyn E. Miller Morrison [L], 66MA, of Northport, NY, recently retired from the New York State Office of Mental Health in West Brentwood, NY, after 44 years as a clinical audiologist.

Lee Scott Theisen [L], 63BA, 66MA, is vice president for development and alumni relations for the San Francisco Art Institute.

Jean E. Liabo Oxley [A], 47BA, of Cedar Rapids, a retired member of the Linn County Board of Supervisors, will see the Linn County Administration Office Building renamed the Jean Oxley Public Services Center in her honor this November.

"I'm grappling with engraving, mezzotint, and the Slovak language. I'm pretty humbled, as well as delighted, by the whole endeavor."
