Jenna L. Countryman*, 07BA, who recently graduated with her M.B.A. degree from DePaul University in Chicago, is a strategic sourcing professional for Xchanging Services, a business process and technology services provider in Chicago.

Steven J. DeVore, 02BA, a freelance producer and owner of Devo Communications in Hermosa Beach, Calif., received a 2011 Emmy Award for "Most Outstanding Live Special" as part of the Fox Sports production team for the 2011 World Series pregame show.

Jesus A. Chavez, 93BSEE, is an electrical engineering patent examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, Va.

Robert W. Dixon*, 97BBA, an associate with the Davis Brown law firm in Des Moines, is a member of the 2012-13 class of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute.

Ann C. Bonham, 80MS, 86PhD, chief scientific officer for the Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington, D.C., has earned a UI Carver College of Medicine 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award for Achievement.

Carol Dolezal-Ng*, 85BA, completed her residency in chaplaincy this past fall at Stanford Hospital in Stanford, Calif.

Stephen H. Haven, 83MFA, 85MA, an English professor and director of the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, has received the New American Press Poetry Prize for his collection, The Last Sacred Place in North America.

Ingrid J. Peterson, 82PhD, a retired adjunct faculty member from the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University in Bonaventure, N.Y., and a Third Order Franciscan sister from Rochester, Minn., has been recognized with the book, Her Bright Merits: Essays in Honor of Ingrid J. Peterson, O.S.F., PhD.

James R. Popejoy, 87MA, vice president for the north central division of the College Band Directors National Association and director of bands at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D., has received the Faculty Award for Individual Excellence in Teaching and a second North Dakota Spirit Faculty Achievement Award.

Jeffrey A. Reed, 86MA, founder, music director, and conductor of Orchestra Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky., serves on the college advisory board for Constituting America, a nonprofit organization that educates Americans about the importance of the U.S. Constitution.

Diana Brady Spellman*, 81BA, president of Spellman Brady & Company, an interior design firm in St. Louis, was recently named by St. Louis Business Journal as one of the cityÕs top 25 most influential businesswomen.

Pamela Armstrong Arons*, 70BA, who recently retired as manager of U.S. Resourcing from National Grid, an energy company in Waltham, Mass., is an adjunct professor of graduate management and marketing at Lasell College in Newton, Mass.

Martin Brown*, 74BGS, is executive director of the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges in Olympia, Wash.

Roger I. Ceilley*, 71MD, 77R, a dermatologist in West Des Moines, has been named an honorary lifetime member of the American Academy of Dermatology. William M. Hagen, 74PhD, recently retired from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., after 38 years as an English professor.

Dwight J. Hymans, 79MSW, is deputy executive director of the Association of Social Work Boards in Culpeper, Va.

Karen E. Koch, 76MS, 79PhD, a molecular biology professor with the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., is a 2012 American Society of Plant Biologists fellow.

Lee D. Legette, 74MA, a music professor at Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, N.C., received the 2012 University of North Carolina Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Bruce L. Maurer*, 70BS, 76MA, is a community relations specialist for Thrivent Financial in Iowa City and president of the Iowa Fraternal Alliance, a network of nonprofit fraternal benefit societies.

John E. Osborn*, 79BA, is senior vice president of global corporate affairs for Onyx Pharmaceuticals in San Francisco.

Allan A. Rashford*, 73MD, a physician at Cardiopulmonary Associates and pastor at Charleston Sea Islands International Community Church of the Nazarene in Charleston, S.C., received a 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award for Service from the UI Carver College of Medicine.

Anita M. Thomas Stineman, 74BSN, 03PhD, a UI associate nursing professor in Iowa City, recently received the College of Nursing's 2011-12 Collegiate Teaching Award.

Jody Hines Stone, 76BS, 78MAT, an education professor at the University of Northern Iowa and a former science teacher at Malcolm Price Laboratory School in Cedar Falls, received the 2011 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching from President Barack Obama.

Roger R. Throndson*, 79DDS, a dentist and chief of service at University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston in Galveston, Texas, has been nominated by the Ninth District Dental Society for the Texas Academy of General Dentistry's Dentist of the Year Award.

Patricia A. Collins*, 68PhD, former women's athletics director and head coach at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, has been inducted into the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hall of Fame.

Dennis R. Dowell*, 68BM, 79MFA, who recently retired as band director from the Nauvoo-Colusa High School in Nauvoo, Ill., is music and artistic director for the Nauvoo Community Band and Orchestra and a tuba player for Fort Madison, Iowa, area bands.

Larry L. Enyart, 66BA, president of LEA Architects in Phoenix, has been awarded the American Institute of Architects Western Mountain Region Silver Medal, the highest honor presented by the region.

Phillip J. Haddy, 69BA, 71MA, retired UI sports information director, recently received the College Sports Information Directors of America Lifetime Achievement Award.

James W. Hanson, 69MD, who recently retired as director of the Center for Developmental Biology and Perinatal Medicine at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development in Bethesda, Md., received a UI Carver College of Medicine 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award for Achievement.

Kay Kirkpatrick Jordan, 69BA, 84MA, 89PhD, an assistant philosophy and religious studies professor at Radford University in Radford, Va., has received the Each Moment Matters Award for embodying the mission of the Presbyterian Communities and Services Foundation.

Kenneth G. Mann*, 67PhD, a biochemistry professor at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt., has been awarded a Carver College of Medicine 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award for Achievement.

Lawrence D. Prybil*, 62BA, 64MA, 70PhD, is professor of health services management and the Norton Healthcare Endowed Professor in Healthcare Leadership at the University of Kentucky College of Public Health in Lexington, Ky.

Dayton L. Simpson*, 65BA, is a dispenser assembler at Owner Revolution, a plastic products company in Adair, Iowa. Ronald G. Towell*, 66BBA, 69MA, is president and owner of Ron Towell & Associates, a national commercial real estate development, investment, management, and brokerage company in Chicago.

Arnold E. Grummer, 52MA, president of Arnold Grummer's Paper Making in Milwaukee, has been inducted into the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame in Appleton, Wis.

Larry L. Luing*, 51BSC, former president and chairman of the board emeritus for Berkeley College in New York City, recently was honored at the dedication of the Larry L. Luing School of Business.

Laverne A. Wintermeyer*, 43BM, 48MA, 61MD, 68R, a retired Iowa state epidemiologist and medical director, has received a 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award for Service from the UI Carver College of Medicine.
